Project description
The City of Luxembourg will be carrying out redevelopment work in Rue Côte d'Eich. The works will be undertaken in collaboration with the following City departments:
- VDL – Service Voirie (Department of Streets): Superstructure work along the entire road surface. Update of pedestrian crossings and bus stops to bring these up to code.
- VDL– Service Eaux (Water Department): Replacement of the principal water main. Replacement of aging home connections.
- VDL – Service Éclairage public (Public Lighting Department): Replacement and adaptation of public lighting network.
- VDL – Service Canalisation (Sewer Department): Replacement of sewers (wastewater and rainwater) on multiple sections.
- VDL – Service Circulation (Traffic Department): Replacement of traffic light and parking guidance system infrastructure.
- VDL – Service TIC (ICT Department): Upgrade and extension of Luxembourg City's fibre-optic network. Extension of the City's Wi-Fi network
- National Roads Administration – Electromechanical Department (Administration des Ponts et Chaussées – Service Électromécanique): Replacement and adaptation of national public lighting network. Replacement of all lampposts.
- Creos Luxembourg SA Électricité: Upgrade of the low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical grid. Replacement of home electrical grid connections.
- Creos Luxembourg SA Gaz: Replacement of the principal gas main. Replacement of home utility connections. Replacement of valves under the pavement.
- Post Luxembourg: Upgrade of the fibre-optic network. Replacement of home electrical grid connections.
Works schedule
Commencement of work: September 2026
Expected duration of the works: 320 working days
Planned completion: Spring 2028
Traffic information
For vehicular traffic:
One lane will remain open in each direction.
Pedestrian access and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works. Vehicular access to private properties will be maintained insofar as technically feasible.
For businesses and deliveries:
The City of Luxembourg will try to ensure access for deliveries to local businesses for the entire duration of the works.
As construction progresses, there will be changes to the flow of traffic in this area. Appropriate signage will be put in place by the <em>Service Circulation</em> (Traffic Department). The City of Luxembourg thanks local residents, businesses and road users for their understanding and regrets any inconvenience that the works may cause.
For public transport users:
One lane will remain open in each direction. There will be no changes to bus routes.
Your home utility connections
- During the works, representatives from the City of Luxembourg, and from private contractors involved in the works, will visit residents' homes.
- The purpose of the visit is to assess the condition of your existing connections.
- If you wish to have your existing connections replaced, please tell the City representatives when they visit your home.

Stay informed
To make life easier for residents while these works are being carried out, the City of Luxembourg has implemented a series of measures, including the option to participate in meetings regarding the progress of the work. Residents affected by the works may participate in these meetings to obtain additional information about the project's progress and air any grievances they may have. Please contact the works coordinator, or one of the construction mediators.
