Project description
The City will be carrying out redevelopment works on Rue du Pont in Beggen (municipality of Walferdange). The works will be undertaken in collaboration with the following City departments:
- VDL – Service Voirie (Department of Streets): Complete upgrade of the thoroughfare and public spaces on Rue du Pont. Installation of a Vel'OH! station.
- VDL – Service Eaux (Water Department): Replacement of the principal water main and deteriorated connections to homes.
- VDL – Service Éclairage public (Public Lighting Department): Replacement of cables for public lighting systems and street lights. Upgrade of electrical cabinets to bring them up to code. Installation of special lighting at pedestrian crossings to improve visibility of pedestrians.
- VDL – Service Canalisation (Sewer Department):The rainwater pipes will be replaced for hydraulic reasons along the entire length of Rue du Pont. Installation of a new connection between the two main wastewater drains, from Rue de Beggen and the water treatment plant.
- VDL – SERVICE TIC) (ICT DEPARTMENT): Upgrade and extension of the fibre-optic network and the City of Luxembourg's Wi-Fi network. Connection of the water treatment plant to the City's network. Upgrade of electrical cabinets to bring them up to code by placing an electricity meter between the mains and the ICT network.
- Creos Luxembourg SA Gaz:Replacement of the low-pressure gas network on Rue du Pont. Connection of homes to the new gas mains.
- Post Luxembourg: Extension of the ultra high-speed fibre-optic broadband network on Rue Beggen to the existing structures on Rue du Pont.

Commencement of work: September 2024
Expected duration of works: 175 working days
Planned completion: March 2026
Traffic information
For vehicular traffic:
The affected sections will be closed to traffic in phases as the project progresses. Pedestrian access and access for emergency services will be guaranteed throughout the duration of the works. Vehicular access to private properties will be maintained insofar as technically feasible.
For businesses and deliveries:
The City of Luxembourg will try to ensure access for deliveries to local businesses for the entire duration of the works. As construction progresses, there will be changes to traffic flow in this area.

Work on the home water and gas connections are currently underway, as well as on the road superstructure.
Your home utility connections
- During the works, representatives from the City of Luxembourg, and from private contractors involved in the works, will visit residents' homes.
- The purpose of the visit is to assess the condition of your existing connections.
- If you wish to have your existing connections replaced, please tell the City representatives when they visit your home.

Stay informed
To make life easier for residents while these works are being carried out, the City of Luxembourg has implemented a series of measures, including the option to participate in meetings regarding the progress of the work. Residents affected by the works may participate in these meetings to obtain additional information about the project's progress and air any grievances they may have.
