Schueberfouer

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the College of the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg has decided, as an exceptional measure, to extend the Schueberfouer 2021 application deadline to 31 January 2021.

Schueberfouer 2021 is scheduled to be held from Friday, 20 August to Wednesday, 8 September 2021 on Champ du Glacis. The City reserves the right to change the dates and venue should the need arise.

Participation in the Schueberfouer is restricted to non-sedentary professionals (fairground vendors and merchants) with a business permit.

Participation fees are listed in the currently applicable Tax Regulations (Règlement-taxe).

Businesses wishing to take part in Schueberfouer 2021 have until 31 January 2021 to apply.

Applicants must fill in the appropriate application form (download below) and provide the necessary documents. Applicants who do not submit a duly signed and completed application form, along with the required supporting documents, by 31 January 2021 will not be considered.

Separate applications must be submitted for each individual business.

Applications, including all supporting documents, must be sent by 31 January 2021 (date of receipt) and bear the reference "Candidature Schueberfouer" (Schueberfouer application) to the address stated in the form below.

For a paper version of this form, please get in touch with us using the contact details found at the bottom of this page.

Once the deadline has passed, only fully completed applications will be considered. A "fully completed application" includes the application form – which should be duly completed and legible – and all supporting documents required of the business filing the application, and most particularly, all requested certificates of compliance.

The City reserves the right to reject applications from businesses that fail to satisfy the compliance requirements, or to rectify non-compliance issues found during a previous inspection.

Admissible applications will be categorised by type of business and then assessed based on the following selection and weighting criteria:

  • Attractiveness of the product(s) on sale, assessed in terms of presentation, originality and theme (30%)
  • Aesthetic appeal of the proposed stall (30%)
  • Compatibility of the stall and/or the proposed products with the event (20%)
  • Applicant's participation in the previous event (20%)

Points will be awarded on the basis of the above criteria. Points range from 0 (unsatisfactory) to 10 (excellent).

The ranking based on the outcome of the assessment will determine which applicants are selected in each business category, depending on available spaces.

Once all applications have been assessed, the City of Luxembourg will inform applicants of its decision.

Winterlights

Participation in the Winterlights festival is limited to professional vendors.

If you wish to participate in the Winterlights festival, please submit your application between 1 August of the year preceding the year for which you wish to apply and 15 January of the year for which you wish to apply (i.e. between 1 August 2020 and 15 January 2021 for the Winterlights festival in 2021).

Applicants must fill in the appropriate application form (download below) and provide the necessary documents. Applicants who do not provide a duly signed and completed application form, along with the required documents, by 15 January will not be considered.

Separate applications must be submitted for each individual business.

A complete application, with all supporting documents, must be sent by 15 January (date of receipt) with the note "Candidature Winterlights" (Winterlights application) to the address stated in the form below.

After this date, eligible applications will be assessed based on the following selection criteria:

A) Seniority
The business or applicant has participated in the event in question every year for at least the past five years.

B) Quality of operation of the business
The business is operated conscientiously and responsibly, and displays its products in way that makes them appealing to customers.

C) Observance of contractual obligations and directives issued by the organiser's representatives during the previous year's event
D) Attractiveness of the products offered in terms of presentation, originality or theme
E) Relevance of the business and/or of its products to the event
F) Relevance of the business and/or its products in terms of novelty

ONLY FOR OWNERS:

G) Attractiveness of the business
H) Technical and/or sanitary condition of the business

For all types of businesses, the technical condition of the business is assessed based on the "Baubuch" construction guidelines, and on annual inspection certificates – or similar certificates, if they exist – that have been issued by approved bodies and attest to the business's compliance, or on the results of inspections carried out previously in Luxembourg City and reported to the organiser by the approved inspection body.

Applications will be reviewed and assessed by the College of the Mayor and Aldermen, which will notify applicants of their decision.
