Innovative space for digital learning

The Makerspace, is a pioneering digital space at the Technolink Centre in Cents for children attending City of Luxembourg elementary schools. Designed as a laboratory dedicated to creation and innovation, the Makerspace provides children in Cycles 1 to 4 with a chance to learn about cutting-edge technologies, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, robotics and programming.

The Makerspace is open to City of Luxembourg elementary schoolchildren from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 16:30.

The Makerspace can only be booked and used by educational staff, IT supervisors, teachers specialising in digital skills, and trained employees from the City's Service Enseignement (Education Department).

The Technolink Centre – a department of the City's Service Enseignement – handles the technical management, bookings and provision of equipment, as well as support and assistance to help users make the most of this space.

Active learning in a supervised environment

In this modern lab, students can turn their ideas into reality: from the initial design phase using digital tools, all the way through to producing the physical object. At the same time, the Makerspace fosters teamwork and a desire to experiment and explore new digital skills.

Educational activities are supervised by the schools' educational staff, who are assisted by teachers who specialise in digital skills. This guidance and support gives children the chance to learn by trial and error, tinker, imagine and create in a safe, stimulating environment.

A forward-looking initiative

This project is part of the City's commitment to incorporating digital education in elementary schools. By bringing schoolchildren in contact with the technologies of tomorrow, the City sparks their curiosity, cultivates their creativity and encourages the acquisition of key skills in an increasingly digital world.
