The leakmobile of the City's Service Eaux (Water Department) is used to monitor the capital's water supply and to carry out water supply-related maintenance operations and emergency assistance.
Flow measurement: using integrated measurement sections, mobile flow meters and ultrasonic flow meters to monitor water flow and pressure.
Leak detection: various methods, such as noise loggers, correlation technology, geophones, gas processes and microphones, are used to detect and pinpoint leaks.
Maintenance and inspection: the van is fitted with equipment for maintenance and inspection of pressure-reducing stations, water supply networks and drinking water pipelines, including a pipe inspection camera system.
Emergency operations: the van can help reroute the water supply to different supply zones in the event of construction work or emergencies, and features an on-board pressure reducer to link different supply zones.
Preventive measures: Marking of drinking water pipelines to prevent damage during construction work, and use of a pipe detector to locate underground pipes.
Quality and pressure issues: The van is equipped with measuring devices to detect and quickly resolve issues such as turbidity or chlorine content.
Public alerts: external public-address system can be used to inform local residents of any problems with the drinking water supply, in addition to other conventional communication channels such as radio and social media.
