MERL: New Service Cimetières headquarters
The new headquarters of the Service Cimetières (Cemeteries Department) houses this department's administrative, archival, technical and social facilities within a single site, providing for the more efficient management of the City's 14 cemeteries. Functional and durable, the various buildings blend seamlessly with surrounding the environment of the Merl cemetery, and meets today's standards for quality of work and public service.
Key dates
The final detailed project was approved by the Municipal Council on 19 November 2018. Work began in September 2019, and lasted until 28 February 2025.
Durability
Designed with sustainability in mind, the building has been awarded the LENOZ certificate (quality label for sustainable housing) for its performance in terms of energy efficiency, choice of materials and integration into the existing environment. The building is partially underground, blending discreetly into the cemetery landscape and using natural materials such as wood.
