MAYA
about
With roots deeply embedded in neo-soul, MAYA fuses a rich tapestry of musical styles to craft a sound that’s both timeless and contemporary. Their songs move fluidly between playful irony and thoughtful melancholy, always leaving space for a touch of ambiguity.
Beyond its jazzy touch, this crossover quintet draws inspiration from funk, trip-hop, poetry, and film to create immersive sonic landscapes - inviting listeners into a world where groove meets introspection.
The warm, textured vocals of lead singer and composer Chantal Kirsch serve as the emotional core, carrying lyrics that explore personal reflection, resilience, and the nuances of human connection.
At the heart of MAYA’s sound lies a deep appreciation for musical storytelling - each song unfolds as a journey, blending intricate harmonies, organic rhythms, and subtle electronic textures.
MAYA’s sound is brought to life by a group of exceptional musicians, each adding their unique voice to the mix: Luca Sales on keys, Laurent Kohn on guitar, Pit Bourkel on drums, and Ben Weis on drums. Whether delivering an intimate ballad or an electrifying up-tempo piece, MAYA seamlessly bridges the gap between classic soul sensibilities and modern production aesthetics.
With their upcoming album release “Between the Lines” and a growing presence in the contemporary soul and jazz scenes, MAYA is poised to carve out a unique space in today’s musical landscape.
