Changes to traffic flow
Due to the festivities planned for National Day, there will be some changes to traffic and public transport – particularly on 22 June (the eve of National Day: Torchlight procession and firework display), and 23 June (National Day itself: the official ceremony, military ceremony and military parade, Te Deum).
Progressive closing-off of the Glacis car park starting on Sunday, 14 June 2026
In view of the National Day festivities on 22 and 23 June 2026, and in particular to make room for the stage and technical installations for the City Sounds concerts, the Glacis car park will be progressivley closed starting on 14 June 2026. Once the installations have been taken down (process beginning on Wednesday, 24 June), the parking lot will once again be accessible to the public as of Friday, 26 June 2026.
Rehearsal for the military parade: 21 June
Due to the military parade rehearsal on Avenue de la Liberté, this road and its adjoining streets will be closed to traffic from 7:30 on Sunday, 21 June 2026. In addition, parking will be prohibited on some of these streets adjacent to Avenue de la Liberté from 22:00 on 20 June to 13:00 on 21 June 2026.
Eve of National Day: 22 June
Motorists
Certain roads will be closed in the city centre and Gare district as of 19:00. If you plan to drive, please follow the detours, which will be marked. Certain roads will be closed in the Gare district and city centre due to the fireworks, which will be set off from the Pont Adolphe.
Pont Adolphe pedestrian footbridge
The Pont Adolphe pedestrian footbridge will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists as of around 21:00 to enable preparations for the fireworks display. Pedestrians and cyclists wishing to get to the city centre will have to travel over the Viaduc bridge. Proper signage will be erected.
The footbridge will be reopened around midnight.
Car parks
For information on available spaces, motorists are strongly advised to use the dynamic parking guidance system (Parkleitsystem). In addition, the City of Luxembourg wishes to remind visitors of its many P+Rs, which have excellent public transport connections to the city centre and Champs du Glacis.
The covered car parks in the city centre and Gare district will remain open, with the exceptions of:
- the Knuedler and Saint-Esprit car parks, which drivers may not enter or exit on 22 June between 19:00 and 2:00 AM (this restriction also applies to paying permit holders)
- the Théâtre car park, which drivers may not enter or exit on 22 June between 19:00 and 23:00 (this restriction also applies to paying permit holders)
- the Rond-Point Schuman car park, which will be closed from midnight on 22 June to 1:00 on 24 June (access reserved for paying permit holders only).
National Day: 23 June
On National Day (solemn ceremony, military parade, Te Deum), the road closures between the Gare district and the city centre will take effect at 7:00. If you plan to drive, please follow the detours, which will be marked.

The following vel'OH! stations will be closed:
- Al Bréck: from 8:00 on 22 June to noon on 24 June
- Metzer Plaz: from 8:00 on 20 June to noon on 24 June
- Gëlle Fra: From 8:00 on 19 June to noon on 24 June
- Knuedler / Notre-Dame: from 8:00 on 22 June to 8:00 on 25 June
- Rousegärtchen – Place des Martyrs: from 18:00 on 22 June to 8:00 on 24 June
- Hamilius: from noon on 22 June to 8:00 on 24 June
Elevators
The eve of National Day
The elevators connecting Pfaffenthal and the Grund to Ville Haute will be open all night from 22 to 23 June 2026.
