Jubilee celebrations on 21 June 2025
Silver jubilee: 25th anniversary of the accession of HRH Grand Duke Henri
To celebrate this anniversary, festivities will begin at around 18:00 on Place Guillaume II, with an official ceremony attended by the Grand Ducal Family. In the evening, the façade of the Grand Ducal Palace will feature a spectacular light and sound show.
Throughout the evening, an eclectic mix of DJ sets and live concerts will thrill audiences at various public squares all across the city centre.

The eve of National Day: 22 June
The festivities in honour of the Grand Duke's birthday will begin on the eve of National Day, namely on Sunday, 22 June 2025. The capital will be a hub of joy and celebration, with the traditional changing of the guard in front of the Grand Ducal Palace at 16:00, the torchlight procession (Fakelzuch), a range of concerts in various public squares, the City Sounds festival at Champ du Glacis, and a fireworks display to round off the evening.
Torchlight procession and fireworks
The torchlight procession (Fakelzuch) will set off from Place du Théâtre at 21:30. It will travel down Côte d'Eich and Rue du Fossé, before arriving in Place Guillaume II to parade past the grandstand. From there, the procession will continue via Rue du Fossé to Place de Clairefontaine, where it will end.
To ensure that the Fakelzuch proceeds smoothly, the 2,500 participants in the procession will meet at Place du Théâtre / Côte d'Eich as of 20:00.
At 21:30, TRH the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess together with the Grand Ducal family will be welcomed at Place Guillaume II by Mayor Lydie Polfer and Deputy Mayor Maurice Bauer, and led to the grandstand in front of City Hall.
The fireworks in honour of the Grand Duke's birthday will be set off from the Pont Adolphe and will light up the sky at 23:00 for 17 minutes. The fireworks display will be accompanied by an original piece of music composed by Maxime Bender.
Concerts and entertainment in the city centre
On Place d'Armes, the entertainment programme will kick off at 19:00 with the Luxembourg folk dance groups "La Ronde" and "Uucht la veillée" (19:00–19:45), as well as "Lidderuucht Lëtzebuerg" (20:00–20:45), followed by DJ Don Simon (22:30–01:30), who is known for his eclectic mixes and will provide revellers with a fun and festive end to the evening at Place d'Armes
To mark the occasion, the trees that line Place d'Armes will be lit up in red, white and blue (rout-wäiss-blo).
Around 21:00, flags will be distributed to the crowd at Place Guillaume II.

National Day: 23 June
Official programme
The National Day programme of ceremonial events will kick off on Monday, 23 June 2025 at 9:45 with a solemn ceremony at the Luxembourg Philharmonie, followed by a 21-gun salute at Fetschenhof at 11:15 in honour of the Grand Duke. The traditional presentation of arms and the military parade will then take place on Avenue de la Liberté from 12:15 onwards. The Te Deum will be held at 16:30 at Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg City, attended by members of the Grand Ducal Family.
Spillfest
The City of Luxembourg's Centre d'animation pédagogique et de loisirs (Creative Learning Centre – CAPEL) of the Service Foyers scolaires (Childcare Department) will host its traditional Play Day (Spillfest) from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Kinnekswiss (Municipal Park on Avenue de la Porte-Neuve).
City Sounds
True to the spirit of the City Sounds festival, Sunday, 22 June 2025 will be devoted entirely to electronic music, with performances by international headline artists, including Klingande, BJones and Oliver Heldens, and a number of well-known Luxembourgish DJs.
On 23 June 2025, for the second day of the festival, City Sounds will be all about pop music, with performances by well-known Luxembourgish talents and international stars, including James Bay and Train.
