Introduction

Inspired by the "MUR Oberkampf" in Paris, where more than 300 artists have left their mark over the years, and following on from the graffiti project at the ventilation tower at Place Guillaume II, "LE MUR LUXEMBOURG" features temporary works of graffiti and street art in a range of styles on its 30 m2 urban canvas.

The inaugural artwork was realised by Luxembourg artist Sumo. Other artists from Luxembourg, the Greater Region, and further afield will follow his lead and create their own ephemeral pieces on "LE MUR": in all, 19 painting sessions are planned, which will take place every 2 months. Each creation will take one to two days to complete, and will be revealed to the public as part of a vernissage.

The LE MUR Luxembourg urban art project was launched in March 2022, in collaboration with the non-profit organisation I Love Graffiti, and no fewer than 12 spray can masters have left their mark on the gable wall of 23, Rue du Fort Neipperg. Due to the Rocade building extension works, LE MUR has now been relocated to Ville Haute: 14, rue St-Esprit, on the facade of the Lëtzebuerg City Museum.
