Sports pour tous - Young people

The youth programme (for young people aged 12 to 16, with exceptions for some classes) includes over 25 different sporting activities, such as breakdancing, skateboarding, ice skating, weight training, multisports, futsal, Zumba, aerobic dancing, general fitness, restorative fitness, jogging, aikido, volleyball, badminton, triathlon, table tennis, billiards, chess, archery, Movin'Kids (for children with weight management issues), bike school and adaptive multisports for young people aged 12 to 26, with or without special needs.

The youth programme includes cycling lessons for children aged 4 to 8, organised jointly with the city's cycling clubs at the Boy Konen bike park in Cessange, and also ice skating classes for children aged 4 to 11 and 12 to 16 at the Kockelscheuer Ice Rink. Also at the ice rink this year, young people will have the chance to try their hand at curling.

Participation in the classes for young people is free.

The new Sports pour tous 2025–2026 season starts on 1 October 2025 and runs until 15 July 2026. The season is divided into two parts, with one tailored to the winter period and the other to the summer months:

  • Autumn/winter: 1 October 2025 to 29 March 2026
  • Spring/summer: 13 April 2026 to 15 July 2026

Registration

Registration for the special Summer Holiday programme has been open since 15 July.

  • Registration is free.
  • To take part, please fill in the form below and return it to the City's Service Sports (Sports Department) at sportpourtous@vdl.lu.

Advance registration with the Service Sports is required for all classes. All participants acknowledge and accept that they will be taking part at their own risk.
Registration will officially open to the public on 24 September 2025. Registration is possible at any time during the season (subject to availability).

Registration for the Sports pour tous programme will be officially opened to anyone who is interested in taking part, in the following order of priority:

  1. from Monday, 8 September 2025: residents of Luxembourg City;
  2. from Wednesday, 17 September 2025: residents of other municipalities who registered in the previous season;
  3. from Wednesday, 24 September 2025: everyone else.

Applications submitted at the wrong time will be rejected.

Tax regulations

Article 1. Sports for young people (aged 4 to 16)

Participation in youth classes is free. Registration, along with parental consent, is required.

Article 2. Sports for adults (aged 16+)

Prices for adult classes are as follows:

for residents of Luxembourg City
per class and per season: €40

for residents of other municipalities
per class and per season: €80

Adult enrolment is limited to 12 classes per season. "Special classes", which are offered on an ad hoc basis, are billed separately and are not included in the 12-class restriction mentioned above.
Registration is only effective after payment of the applicable registration fee.

Article 3. Sports for seniors (aged 55+)

Seniors may attend one class in the seniors programme for free each season. Additional classes will be billed as follows:

for residents of Luxembourg City
per class and per season: €40

for residents of other municipalities
per class and per season: €80

Registration for senior activities is limited to 12 classes per season. "Special classes", which are offered on an ad hoc basis, are billed separately and are not included in the 12-class restriction mentioned above.
Seniors may attend classes in the adult sports programme, provided they pay the fees set out in Article 2.
Registration is only effective after payment of the applicable registration fee.

Article 4. Refunds

Registration fees will only be refunded upon presentation of a medical certificate confirming that the participant is unable to attend the classes.
Refunds will be prorated based on the number of full months remaining until the season; partial months will not be refunded. The season begins on 1 October and ends on 15 July of the following year.
Registration fees will not be refunded if a class is cancelled due to force majeure, the unavailability of an instructor, or the unavailability of facilities.

Article 5. Changing classes

Participants may change classes during the season, provided that (i) places are available in the class that they wish to switch to, (ii) the price of class that they wish to switch to is the same, and (iii) the class that they wish to switch to is part of the same programme (adults or seniors).

Terms and conditions of participation

1. The new Sports pour tous 2025–2026 season begins on 1 October 2025 and end on 15 July 2026. The programme is divided into two parts, with one tailored to the winter period and the other to the summer months:

4. Luxembourg City residents, and customers who registered for the previous season, will be given priority for registrations at the beginning of the season. They will receive an invitation two to three weeks before the beginning of the season (1 October) so that they can sign up before registration officially opens to the general public.

5. The fees for participating in the classes organised by the Service Sports have been set by the Municipal Council, and are listed in Luxembourg City's Tax Regulations (Règlement-Taxe). All classes are billed in accordance with the current tax regulations. Participation in billable adult and senior classes will only be permitted after payment of the applicable registration fee.

6. Participation in the classes for young people (aged 4-16) is free of charge but, for these classes, parental consent is required.

7. People aged 55 and over are entitled to one free class per season in the "seniors" programme.

8. Full-season passes for the adult and senior programmes are no longer issued. Registrations for the adult and senior programmes are now limited to 12 classes per season. "Special classes", which are offered on an ad hoc basis, are billed separately and are not included in the 12-class restriction mentioned above.

9. To guarantee the quality of the classes, age restrictions are strictly enforced. Applications submitted by persons who do not comply with the age restrictions will be rejected or cancelled.

10. To be able to take part in water-based activities at Luxembourg City's public pools and teaching pools, participants must purchase an entry ticket at the entrance to the pool (Bonnevoie or Badanstalt), or at the Bierger-Center. Tickets are priced at the ordinary rate for municipal swimming pools.

11. City of Luxembourg staff are eligible for the same rates as Luxembourg City residents upon presentation of a valid City of Luxembourg staff ID card (carte de légitimation).

12. Refugees with International Protection Applicant (IPA) status may take part in the programme free of charge. The required forms must be requested from the Service Sports. The Service Sports will process such applications on a case-by-case basis.

13. No classes are held on public holidays.

14. Anyone who has registered for the current season can take part in the reduced Sports pour tous programme free of charge during the following school holidays:

  • Autumn break (Toussaint): 3–9 November 2025,
  • Christmas holidays: 22 December 2025–4 January 2026 (= NO classes!),
  • Carnival break: 16–22 February 2026,
  • Easter holidays: 30 March–12 April 2026,
  • Pentecost break: 25–31 May 2026,
  • as well as during the summer holidays: 16 July–30 September 2026.

15. Participants may change classes during the season, subject to availability. Registrations may also be cancelled. However, registration fees will only be refunded upon presentation of a medical certificate confirming that the participant is unable to attend the classes. Refunds will be prorated based on the number of full months remaining until the season. To change classes or cancel a class, participants should inform the Service Sports in writing (sportpourtous@vdl.lu / 90, boulevard de Kockelscheuer, L-1821 Luxembourg).

16. Appropriate sportswear is required. Participants are asked to arrive on time, change in the changing rooms, adhere to all applicable rules and regulations, and follow all instructions – including safety instructions – given by City of Luxembourg staff.

Sports activities

  • Break dancing: An acrobatic dance style incorporating moves and sequences performed on the ground.
  • Fitness fiesta: A mix of Latin dance moves, fitness and aerobics, suitable for all levels. This class allows you to unwind, express yourself through dance, and blow off some steam.
  • Zumba: (ages 7 and over): A fun activity that mixes dancing and fitness moves, allowing participants escape from the stress of daily life, let off steam and take control of their health.
  • Fitness gym: Fitness and strength training set to music, with sessions alternating between periods of moderate effort and active breaks.
  • Power fitness: High-intensity workouts geared towards increasing muscle strength and improving general fitness.
  • Restorative fitness: Physical exercises set to music and designed to help you relax, using muscle tension and relaxation techniques. Class targeted at people who want to relieve muscle tension after work in order to improve their overall well-being.
  • Gym for all: A general fitness programme with a focus on building muscle strength, improving flexibility, and boosting well-being.
  • Gym girls: Women-only class with workouts specifically designed for female participants.
  • Cycling lessons: The cycling classes are organised in conjunction with the Luxembourg City bike club "La Pédale" Mühlenbach. They are geared towards children aged 4 to 8 who have already learnt to ride a bike without training wheels, and now want to learn basic cycling techniques in a safe environment.
  • Ice-skating classes: Organised jointly with the Kockelscheuer Ice Rink, these classes are intended for children aged 4 to 11, and young people aged 12 to 16. Participants will take their first steps on the ice without fear and learn basic skating techniques.
  • Jogging: Jogging strengthens the cardiovascular system, stimulates the immune system, and relieves stress. When you jogging regularly, your endurance gradually increases, which means that you can run for longer without losing your breath. An ideal training programme is two sessions a week, with each session lasting at least 30 minutes. A pre-session warm-up and a post-session cool-down are essential for optimum results.

  • Recreational multisports (ages 8 and over):A range of different sporting activities to build and maintain all-round fitness.
  • Gym-machine weight training: Specific strength training based on an individual programme. The exercises are performed on new machines and are supervised by qualified instructors.
  • Skateboarding (ages 8 to 16): Skateboarding lessons for young people at the Skate Park in Hollerich. Under the supervision of specially trained instructors, participants will be introduced to basic skateboarding techniques and then given the chance to put them into practice, all in an appropriate setting.
  • Beach volleyball
  • Adaptive multisports (for children aged 8-16 with or without special needs):Participants will get a chance to discover and try out a range of sporting activities and fun games geared towards people with special needs.
  • Movin'Kids (ages 8 to 12): Physical activities for children with weight management issues. The aim is to get participants to enjoy exercise and develop a sense of achievement in a non-competitive setting.
