Temporary closures of the Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte

To allow for the installation of technical equipment, traffic will be repeatedly restricted on the Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte:  

  • From Saturday, 27 September to Saturday, 4 October, every night between 22:00 and 5:00: overnight closure for preparatory installations;  
  • From Saturday, 27 September (22:00): closure of the northern sidewalk (pedestrians), between the Rond-point Schuman and the funicular;
  • From Saturday, 27 September to Saturday, 4 October, every night between 22:00 and 5:00: Closure of traffic lanes between the Rond-point Schuman and Boulevard Konrad Adenauer, including the southern sidewalk (pedestrians and cyclists);
  • On Saturday, 4 October as of 13h:00: The Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte bridge will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians and cyclists. 

The Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte will be partially reopened at 18:00 on Sunday, 5 October. After the take-down work has been completed, the bridge will once again be fully accessible as of 5:00 on Monday, 6 October.

Closure of the Rond-point Schuman and Glacis car parks

There will be some changes to parking, in particular: 

  • the Glacis car park will be completely closed from 22:00 on Thursday, 25 September;  
  • the Rond-point Schuman car park will be closed to all users, except permit holders, from 1:00 on Friday, 3 October to 1:00 on Monday, 6 October.

Public transport services

As of 27 September, due to the overnight closures of the Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, the following changes will apply to lines 6, 12, 16, 18 and 21 from 22:00 to 5:00:  

Buses on lines 6, 16, 18 and 21 will be rerouted via Weimerskirch and Côte d'Eich. The stops "Fondation Pescatore", "Rout Bréck – Pafendall" and "B.E.I." will be closed and replaced by the stops "Paul Noesen", "St Vith", "Pierre-Eloi Schoué", "Mäertesbuer", "Weimerskirch-Duerf", "Lavals Park", "Eecher Plaz", "Octroi", "Crispinus" and "Badanstalt".

Buses on line 12 will be rerouted via Weimerskirch and Côte d'Eich. The stops "Amélie", "Fondation Pescatore", "Rout Bréck – Pafendall", "Philharmonie/Mudam", "Niedergrünewald" and "Léon Hengen Quai 2" will be closed and replaced by the stops "Léon Hengen Quai 3", "Jean Monnet Quai 1+2", "Paul Noesen", "St Vith", "Pierre-Eloi Schoué", "Mäertesbuer", "Weimerskirch-Duerf", "Lavals Park", "Eecher Plaz", "Octroi", "Crispinus" and "Badanstalt".

Passengers should note that there may be delays on lines 6, 12 and 16 during this period.

As part of the festivities to mark the handover of the throne, several temporary measures will be in effect during the preparatory stages and during the event itself.

Overnight bridge closure

From Saturday, 27 September to Saturday, 4 October, the bridge will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians, every night from 22:00 to 5:00.

Total closure on the day of the festivities

On Saturday, 4 October, the bridge will be closed as of 13:00 and will remain closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic until early afternoon on Sunday, 5 October.
