Background
The residential building project located at no. 39, Rue Auguste Liesch in Belair is part of the "Baulücken III" competition launched by the City of Luxembourg to create affordable housing units on land that it owns. The building, designed by Romain Hoffmann Architectes et Urbanistes S.à.r.l., will comprise 12 social housing units that after completion will be included in the stock of rental housing managed by the City's Service Logement (Housing Department).
Project overview
The residential building contains 12 apartments of different sizes designed to accommodate a wide variety of households. Three of them are accessible to people with reduced mobility. Situated in a residential section of Belair, the building blends seamlessly into its environment as its dimensions match the scale of the surrounding structures.
The project prioritises energy performance, with A-A certification, a photovoltaic system, solar thermal panels, a condensing boiler and a dual-flow ventilation system with heat recovery. Residents also have access to thoughtfully designed common areas, most notably an outdoor gathering space, a bike storage area and an underground car park.
Key dates
The final project was approved by the Municipal Council on 1 March 2021. Work began on 30 November 2021.
Topping-out ceremony: 5 June 2023
