Spiel dich ins Leben – Die Bedeutung von Spiel- und Freiräumen für die kindliche Entwicklung
On Tuesday, 11 November 2025, the Centre d'animation pédagogique et de loisirs (Creative Learning Centre – CAPEL) – a division of the City of Luxembourg's Service Foyers scolaires (Childcare Department) – will be hosting a public round-table discussion entitled "Spiel dich ins Leben – Die Bedeutung von Spiel- und Freiräumen für die kindliche Entwicklung" at Cercle Cité (Place d'Armes entrance). The event is scheduled to start at 19:00 and is expected to last two hours. This public conference on the importance of play areas and open spaces in child development is geared toward parents, teachers, educators and other interested parties. It will be held in German.
The speakers explore the idea that engaging in play is a sign of healthy development, whereas a partial appetite for play may be a sign of distress or certain needs not being met. At a time when more and more children are displaying behavioural disorders and require psychosocial support, this event addresses ways to improve children's mental well-being by making play central to their development.
