Pre-enrolment
2026–2027 school year
Pre-enrolment for the Luxembourg City foyers scolaires for the 2026–2027 school year will take place during the following periods:
- For pupils of Cycle 1.0 (précoce): from Monday, 13 April to Friday, 24 April 2026.
- For pupils of Cycle 1.1 (Spillschoul) to Cycle 4.2: from Monday, 23 February to Friday, 27 March 2026.
Parents are asked to refer to the "Policies and procedures of the City of Luxembourg's foyers scolaires for 2025–2026", available below. The admission procedures for City of Luxembourg foyers scolaires are detailed therein.
In order to schedule an appointment and determine which enrolment type is best suited to your situation, please contact the director (chargé(e) de direction) of the foyer scolaire in your district (see the list below for contact details) as early as possible, but no later than Friday, 27 March 2026.
The following documents are needed to enrol:
- enrolment form (child's personal file) – which can be downloaded from www.foyers-scolaires.lu
- social security registration certificate (issued free of charge, upon request, via www.ccss.lu or MyGuichet.lu). All social security registration certificates issued by the Centre commun de la sécurité sociale (Joint Social Security Centre – CCSS) bear a QR code used to authenticate the certificate through the GouvCheck application. CCSS certificates without a QR code will not be accepted. For officials of European Union institutions, a certificate of employment. Without this certificate, the enrolment application will be deemed "incomplete" and it will be assumed that alternative care arrangements have been made. If the parents' employment is such that a social security registration certificate cannot be issued (e.g. they work abroad), an equivalent certificate will be accepted.
- an extended residence certificate (which replaced the former household composition certificate) and, if applicable, additional information provided to the director of the foyer scolaire to allow them to make a decision on the matter, if the child is in a "two-parent" or "single-parent" household.
These documents inform the Service foyers scolaires (Childcare Department) of the possibility of alternative care arrangements for the child in question. In the absence of supporting evidence regarding parents'/guardians' regular employment, or of other documents listed above, the enrolment application will be given lower priority (as it will be assumed that there are alternative care arrangements for the child). The Department reserves the right to process only those children’s personal files that are deemed "complete" – i.e. files that contain all the required documents and information as listed above.
The date of your appointment has no bearing on the priority level given to your application.
Please note that the pre-enrolment process must also be repeated every year for children attending foyers scolaires.
