Les Fous de Vianden

Perched high on its rocky outcrop overlooking the Our Valley, Vianden Castle guards a legend born in the streets of the medieval town below: the tale of the Fools of Vianden. In this concert for the whole family, conductor Pavel Baleff and narrator Milla Trausch lead audiences through the cobbled lanes of northern Luxembourg for an afternoon filled with warmth, imagination, and discovery. These “Fools”, as the villagers called them, were true artists whose talents continually surprised even those who thought they knew them best. Painters and musicians alike, these cheerful entertainers seemed to change character with every event that enlivened the citadel. Without them, village fairs and festive gatherings would never have had quite the same spirit. Created especially around an existing musical repertoire, this musical tale celebrates these many-sided characters and brings back to life the festive atmosphere of villages in days gone by.
