The Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxemoburg preserves and showcases the international cinematographic heritage, holding an impressive collection of archives.
It has a historic screening room at Place du Théâtre, currently closed for renovation and expansion works. During this period, however, the Cinémathèque continues to offer a rich and varied programme: retrospectives, film talks, panel discussions, festivals, cine-concerts, as well as activities for young audiences and seniors. Screenings take place at various venues across the capital to ensure that the unique experience of the big screen remains accessible to everyone.
A member of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) since 1983 and designated a “Treasure of European Film Culture” by the European Film Academy in 2023, the Cinémathèque is a unique place where memory and passion for the 7th art meet.
