Biergerdag: Municipal offices closed

In celebration of Biergerdag or "Citizens' Day", which falls on 4 September this year, all the City of Luxembourg's municipal offices will be closed as of 12:00 (noon).

Traditionally, Citizens' Day was the day on which the city's merchants treated their staff to the Schueberfouer as a show of thanks for their help on the day of the Braderie. Although this tradition has long since died out, the term Biergerdag, or "Citizens' Day", is still used today.
