Capel Symposium on learning through play
The Centre d'animation pédagogique et de loisirs (Creative Learning Centre – CAPEL) invites all child education professionals and the wider public to attend a symposium on learning through play on Saturday, 7 March 2026, from 8:30 to 17:30 at the Jugendzenter Marienthal.
Programme
The programme includes two public German-language lectures between 8:50 and 10:45:
- "Wie Kinder im Spiel Welt gestalten" by Bernhard Hanel
- Children express their preception of the world through play, drawing, stories and movement. Free play creates spaces for learning, forging identity and creating a shared culture. The speaker invites us to think about how we can support this creativity and the associated cultural processes.
- "Plädoyer für spielerische Freiheit" by Aurélie d'Incau
- Play blends seriousness and lightness, order and chaos, tradition and invention. Children naturally navigate these opposites. This lecture suggests that we rethink the role of play and creativity in our lives, even as adults.
Attendees will also be able to take part in a large number of engaging workshops (cooking, theatre, children's committee, etc.). The symposium will close with a celebration of cultures
