Europe Direct Luxembourg-Ville and the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg are pleased to invite you to the live screening of President Ursula von der Leyen’s 2026 State of the European Union (SOTEU) address, followed by an exchange on the key messages and priorities for the years ahead.

SOTEU (State of the European Union) is the European Commission President’s annual address outlining the EU’s main achievements, priorities, and plans for the year ahead.
This event will provide an opportunity to take stock of the actions already undertaken and to present the major political and legislative priorities for the coming years.
In an international context marked by geopolitical tensions, economic transformation, climate challenges, and digital transitions, this meeting offers a valuable occasion to anticipate future political developments and contribute to a collective reflection on the future of the European Union.

SOTEU Challenge: 100 Ideas for Europe
Following the live screening, participants will be invited to take part in a participatory citizens’ challenge!
Working individually or in groups, participants will be encouraged to propose concrete ideas for Europe’s future in areas such as:
- Protecting Europe
- Strengthening Democracy
- Empowering Young People
- Climate and Sustainability
The best proposals will be illustrated and compiled into a digital publication entitled “100 Ideas from Luxembourg for Europe’s Future”, highlighting citizens’ contributions to the European project.
