Schluechthaus: events in September 2026
From March to November, the City of Luxembourg hosts a series of events at the Schluechthaus as part of the pre-works programme to modernise and revitalise the Old Slaughterhouse. On the agenda are a range of cultural offerings featuring urban art, concerts, creative workshops and design and second-hand markets.
Events scheduled in September:
5 and 6 September 2026: Jazz Break x KnowEdge – Jazz and House Dancing
On Saturday, 5 September 2026 from 10:30 to 20:30, and Sunday, 6 September 2026 from 10:30 to 15:30, this exceptional event will bring together the jazz and house dance communities to explore the breadth and continuity of these dances, which are rooted in African American culture. Come and learn about their shared origins and the features that make each style unique.
The guest of honour, Diego Odd Sweet (@odd_sweet), will share his unrivalled expertise in a series of inspiring workshops, while the Jazz Break and KnowEdge teams will introduce participants to the basics of their respective disciplines. No prior experience is required.
13 September 2026: Creative Sunday – Photography workshop with Laurent Sturm
Creative Sundays are back again with a photography workshop on Sunday, 13 September 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00. Photographer Laurent Sturm is inviting young people (aged 15 and over) and adults to explore the creation of a photographic series, using either a smartphone or camera. Open to all, with no experience required, the workshop will encourage experimentation and the development of a personal vision. With practical tips that can easily be applied on an everyday basis, participants will learn how to transform their observations into coherent, expressive images.
18–20 September 2026: Mad Ones Fest – Punk Rock Festival
From Friday, 18 September to Sunday, 20 September 2026, the Schluechthaus will be dancing to the beat of punk rock as it hosts the third Mad Ones Fest, put on by the non-profit organisation The Mad Ones. An unmissable stop on the alternative-music circuit, Mad Ones Fest is back again this year with its most ambitious programme yet, with 25 groups performing on three stages over three days. The 2026 festival will showcase all the diversity of punk rock, hardcore and their related movements, promising an intense musical experience in a lively and authentically underground ambience.
26 September 2026: On Stéitsch
On Saturday, 26 September 2026, from 14:00 to 22:00, the National Youth Service (Service National de la Jeunesse – SNJ) will be hosting its 19th annual On Stéitsch festival, an eclectic cultural and artistic event for people of all ages. The festival seeks to promote youth culture, while spotlighting the stakeholders who work with young people and the projects they develop.
On Stéitsch, a staple of the autumn cultural scene, brings together young creators and artists in a varied programme that includes multiple stages, an exhibition space, creative and sports workshops, and information booths. The festival incorporates a host of mediums of expression and creation bound together by a shared vision: to provide a space for free expression that is open to everyone and where dialogue, creativity and participation take precedence over judgement and competition.
