New SOS watch
Since 1987, the City has been offering residents a conventional Téléalarme personal alert system, an emergency response service that is available 24/7: if you are in need of urgent medical assistance, simply press the red button and a distress call will be made. In 2013, the City extended its offering to include a mobile personal alert device that can be geolocated and used outside the home, along with a range of additional accessories, such as fall, smoke, gas, heat and water-leak detectors.
A comfortable, discreet and easy-to-use solution
On 15 April 2026, the City achieved a new milestone with the introduction of its first SOS watch. This watch offers users a comfortable, discreet, and easy-to-use solution that enhances their everyday safety. Specially designed to be used outside the home, the new SOS watch can be used to make distress calls from anywhere in the Grand Duchy, without a mobile phone, provided that there is mobile network and GPS coverage. When a distress call is made, the user is connected directly to a trained operator, who will immediately start the process to get the user the help they need, and who can pinpoint the user's location if necessary.
Designed to meet the needs of different populations – especially seniors, people with special needs and people suffering from chronic illnesses – the Téléalarme offering is yet another example of the City of Luxembourg's commitment to improving residents' safety, autonomy and quality of life.
