Women’s Health Week
With the aim of raising public awareness of gender-related health issues, the City of Luxembourg is supporting several initiatives as part of the first Women’s Health Week (1-7 June 2026).
A tour of the exhibition “Et leeft” (”Flow”)
At 12:15 on Tuesday, 2 June, the Lëtzebuerg City Museum is offering a guided tour of the exhibition “Et leeft”, attended by Martine Deprez, the Minister of Health and Social Security. Through museum exhibits, interviews, music, film, and art, the exhibition explores the narratives and debates around menstruation over the past few decades, retraces how menstrual products have changed since the end of the 19th century, and gives voice to people who menstruate.
“The change that makes you stronger – A (peri)menopause workshop”
From 17:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday, 2 June and from 9:00 to noon on Wednesday, 3 June, LëtzMenopause is hosting “The change that makes you stronger – A (peri)menopause workshop”. The sessions will address the biological aspects and science of this stage of live, which affects all women. The talks will be followed by interactive workshops led by Cathy Cribben-Pearse – a midwife and specialist in menopausal medicine – with the aim of helping participants to better navigate this transitional period, both in their daily lives and in their careers.
A screening of the film “This is Endometriosis”
On Friday, 5 June, from 18:00 to 20:00, CID | Fraen an Gender, in collaboration with the municipal authorities of Luxembourg City and Dudelange, invite all those affected by endometriosis to an evening of dialogue and sharing of experiences. There will be a screening of the film “This is Endometriosis”, by film-maker Georgie Wileman, followed by discussions and the sharing of personal stories. The conversations will focus on day-to-day management of the condition while working, the psychological impacts of the disease, support from friends and family, and tips on how to live a better life with endometriosis.
Menstruation-themed foodie walking tour
On Saturday, 6 June, between 11:00 and 14:00, CID | Fraen an Gender, the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque and the Lëtzebuerg City Museum invite people aged between 11 and 13, accompanied by an adult, to a foodie walking tour themed around menstruation. The route begins at the CID’s library for children and adolescents. Participants will be given a tour of the site and have the chance to listen to a story before being served an appetiser. The next stage will take place in the Henri Beck Auditorium in Cercle Cité, with the screening of a documentary about menstruation by director Diana Fabiánová. The main course will be served after the screening. To complete their walk, participants will go to the Lëtzebuerg City Museum, for a creative workshop led by artist Lisa Junius. Dessert will then be served to bring the evening to a close.
