The Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque is the ideal spot if you're looking for a place to read and meet people. It offers a wide range of books and documents for users of all ages and reading levels, and loans are free of charge. It also offers a number of cultural activities. The library fosters a love of reading in young people, facilitates access to knowledge and culture, and helps to preserve the country’s cultural heritage.

The City of Luxembourg has many general and special interest libraries and research centres.

Film has always had a strong place in Luxembourg City's cultural landscape, as is reflected by the wide offering made available to the public through the programming of Luxembourg City's Cinémathèque and the city's large number of festivals.

The capital has no less than nine museums and art centres that cover various themes.

The Grand Duchy has a strong musical tradition and offers a wide programme of events. The City of Luxembourg encourages and promotes music making in many ways.

The Luxembourg City Photothèque (Photographic Archive) has extensive collections dating back to the very dawn of photography. Initiatives promoting photography include the biennial European Month of Photography, the PhotoMeetings and participation in the Rencontres d’Arles from 2017 to 2019.

From theatre to opera to dance, lovers of the performing arts are spoilt for choice in Luxembourg City.

As part of the Ministry of Culture's 2018-2028 cultural development plan (Kulturentwécklungsplang – KEP), a code of conduct has been drawn up with the recommendations and rules to be applied in the cultural sphere.
