Start of the 2025/2026 school year in the capital

On Monday, 15 September 2025, to mark the start of the 2025/2026 school year, Mayor Lydie Polfer and Paul Galles, alderman in charge of education, paid a visit to the Gare elementary school on Rue du Commerce, where they met with children in Cycle 4.1.

In all, 5,746 children started the new year across the City's 19 elementary schools. Of those, 2,117 are enrolled in Cycle 1 (early learning and pre-school) and 3,629 in Cycles 2–4. Pupils are distributed among 397 classes staffed by 656 teachers (enseignants and chargés de cours) and 49 educators (éducateurs diplômés).
