From 25 November to 10 December, the City is once again taking part in Orange Week, a national awareness campaign organised since 2017 by the Conseil national des Femmes du Luxembourg (CNFL) together with the Luxembourg section of Zonta Club International, which aims to combat violence against girls and women.

Human chain

The City of Luxembourg invites one and all to gather on Tuesday, 25 November at 12:15 in Place Guillaume II to form a human chain. To maximise the impact of this event focused on awareness raising and solidarity, participants are asked to wear an orange item of clothing or accessory.

In addition, from 25 November to 10 December, a number of public buildings, including Luxembourg City Hall, the Grand Théâtre tower, Villa Vauban, and the Ban de Gasperich water tower will be lit up in orange. During this time, the orange "Stop violence against women" flag will fly over Place Guillaume II.

The City is also taking part in other Orange Week 2025 initiatives:

Solidarity march

A "solidarity march", organised by the National Women's Council of Luxembourg (<em>Conseil national des Femmes du Luxembourg</em>), will be held on Saturday, 22 November 2025. Participants will set off at 11:00 from <em>Place Hamilius</em>.

Give-away of oranges with QR code: online questionnaire

From 24 to 28 November, oranges will be distributed at City Hall, the Bierger-Center, the "Leo" building, the <em>Service Intégration et besoins spécifiques</em> (Integration and Special Needs Department), the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque, the Lëtzebuerg City Museum, the Théâtre des Capucins and the Luxembourg City Conservatoire: these oranges will bear a QR code directing people to an online questionnaire that helps them gauge if they are in a healthy relationship.

Spearheaded by the <em>Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte</em> to help people spot the red flags of a toxic relationship, this initiative aims to highlight the importance of mutual respect in loving relationships, and to promote zero tolerance of all forms of violence against women.

Every year, the City takes part in Orange Week as part of its 2023-2027 action plan for implementing municipal gender equality policy.
