The Asian hornet began spreading throughout Europe in 2004. As Asian hornets prey on honeybees and other pollinators, they pose a threat to ecosystem balance and local biodiversity.

To curb the spread of this invasive species, the City of Luxembourg has established a dedicated unit to handle the removal of Asian hornet nests across the municipality.

This unit operates both in public areas and on private property. On private property, the City of Luxembourg takes care of removing nests located in easily accessible areas, whatever their size. This service is free of charge.

Attendees will also be informed of what to do if they find an active nest, in order to ensure public safety and help combat the spread of the Asian hornet.
