Description of project
The City is planning to undertake redevelopment work in the Grund district.
Before starting the planning process, the City wishes to present this project to local residents and business owners. The project involves wide-ranging redevelopment of the area around Rue St. Ulric, including Place Op der Schmëdd, Rue St. Ulric, Place St. Ulric, the Münster Bridge, and the St. Ulric Bridge. The aim is to improve the overall quality of these public spaces by adding more vegetation and places to meet, improving accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists, and enhancing the natural heritage along the banks of the Alzette.
To minimise their impact, the works will be divided into three main phases:
- Installation of temporary bridges, and initial works (installation of sewer lines).
- Larger-scale works (sewer lines + reconstruction/restoration of the bridges), which will require temporary closures.
- Public utility works and final resurfacing of the road.
Traffic information
Pedestrian access and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works. Vehicular access to private properties and access for delivery vehicles will be maintained insofar as technically feasible. Residents in the areas concerned who plan to carry out major works on their private properties while the works are ongoing should contact the works coordinator beforehand.
Stay informed
To make life easier for residents once the project gets under way, the City of Luxembourg will implement a series of measures, including the option for residents to attend work-site meetings (by appointment only). Residents may attend these meetings to obtain additional information about the progress of the works, and to air any grievances they may have. Please contact the works coordinator, or one of the construction mediators.
