A fun-filled day of celebration
Aimed at public transport and mobility enthusiasts, as well as families, this fun-filled day will offer a variety of events in addition to guided tours of the site and exhibition, with face-painting, children's transport-themed craft workshops, wooden games, and much more.
There will also be a variety of food trucks serving up refreshments throughout the day, which is all about discovery and fun.
At 11:00, the College of the Mayor and Aldermen will welcome visitors to join in the celebrations with a birthday cake and a reception hosted by the City of Luxembourg. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Tramsmusek.
Exhibition at the Tramsmusée
In February 1875, the first horse-drawn tram departed from Luxembourg Central Station, marking the beginning of the history of public transport in Luxembourg. Since then, modes of transport have constantly evolved to keep pace with urban transformation and the city's needs.
A temporary exhibition dedicated to the history of public transport traces the evolution from the "Päerdstram" to today's tram, including the development of what will soon be a fully electric bus fleet. Richly documented, it also features photographs from the collections of the Luxembourg City Photothèque and audiovisual documents. The exhibition complements the museum's iconic exhibits, which include restored locomotives and buses, as well as numerous scale models.
Experts in the history of public transport will be on hand on 6 June to provide detailed information about the themes covered and to answer visitors' questions.
