Mäi Quartier, meng Plaz | Ville de Luxembourg

"Mäi Quartier, Meng Plaz" (My Neighbourhood, My Place) is a project involving the temporary transformation of several public spaces into venues where people can meet, relax and enjoy some of the city's cultural offerings.

Through temporary installations and a programme of public events, this project seeks to explore new ways of using and sharing the city's public spaces.

The project aims to capitalise on the feedback and the lessons learned from the Quartierspläng survey – the participatory initiative undertaken by the City in 2024–2025, involving all of the capital's 24 districts. Through the project, residents' wishes and expectations – more greenery, shade, activities, places to meet and opportunities for social interactions – are now being implemented in concrete terms.

Residents, associations, businesses and cultural institutions are all invited to join together to breathe life into these public spaces.

On Thursday, 16 July 2026, starting at 16:00, the four "Mäi Quartier, Meng Plaz" sites will officially launch the first edition of the initiative simultaneously.

Each neighbourhood will invite residents to come together around a Big Community Table (Grande Table Urbaine), enjoy food from local food trucks, take part in a range of activities, and meet the local associations and partners that will bring these spaces to life throughout the summer.

The event will also provide an opportunity to discover the programme for the weeks ahead and meet the people and organisations actively involved in neighbourhood life.

On this occasion, the College of Aldermen will visit all four sites to officially launch the initiative, meet with residents and explore the temporary amenities.
