A network accessible to all
From spring through to autumn, the City of Luxembourg provides free drinking water from public drinking fountains throughout the capital. These fixed fountains are easy to access, so you can always stay hydrated wherever you are.
The City also has a fleet of mobile drinking fountains to take care of hydration at public events, so everyone can easily access drinking water wherever they are in the capital.
The water these fountains provide is of excellent quality. It is checked regularly, and meets all current health and safety standards. To ensure they are completely safe to use, the fountains are frequently maintained, cleaned and disinfected.
As at January 2026, the City has 60 water dispensers, both fixed and mobile, and is continuing to expand its network, to provide you with even more places to get free drinking water in the future.
Fixed fountains
The City's 54 fixed water fountains are operational from spring through to autumn, and are located near public roads, squares, parks, playgrounds and sports facilities.

Types of fountains
At present, the City uses three different types of fixed drinking fountains, each of them designed to integrate harmoniously with the other public infrastructure, offering high-quality, easily accessible drinking water.
The classic fountain
The oldest model in the network, these drinking fountains have a distinctive traditional and robust style.
The O'Claire fountain
At present, the O'Claire is the most widely used model across the city. It is recognisable by its modern, refined and sustainable design.
The Pepino fountain
Colourful and fun, these drinking fountains, styled as red and yellow clowns, are particularly popular with children.
They tend to be installed near playgrounds, so that the younger generation can easily stay hydrated while they play.
What to do at drinking fountains
Here is some useful advice on how to get the best out of the City's drinking fountains, with actions that are good for you and good for the planet:
Bring your reusable water bottle everywhere you go
Whether you are out on a walk, at work, on an excursion from school, at an event or just visiting, remember to refill your water bottle. Our water dispensers are there for you: free, convenient and environmentally friendly.
Do one simple thing for the planet
Filling up is easy, cheap and sustainable. Make it part of your daily routine, to reduce your environmental impact and stay hydrated!
Reduce plastic waste
Using water from the City's drinking fountains limits the number of plastic bottles you use. Every refill counts towards reducing waste and protecting the planet.
Remember to hydrate – particularly in hot weather
On hot days, your body needs more water to function properly. Take care to drink regularly, even if you are not thirsty, to stay alert and avoid becoming dehydrated.
Don't forget your four-legged friends
The City already has one doggy drinking station, and plans to install more in the future, so pets can also stay hydrated when they are out on a walk with you.
Through the permanent fountains installed across the city and the mobile drinking water stations that serve events, the City of Luxembourg is working every day to ensure everyone has easy, free and sustainable access to drinking water. It employs every means at its disposal to ensure water of excellent quality that adheres to the strictest of safety standards.
