Inauguration of the new throwing hall in Cessange
On Wednesday, 26 November 2025, the new throwing hall built at 3, rue des Sports à Cessange was officially opened in the presence of the College of the Mayor and Aldermen and representatives of CSL Athletics Luxembourg.
The new throwing hall is part of the Boy Konen sports complex and is located close to the football and hockey pitches. It is dedicated to the disciplines of javelin throw, shot put, discus throw and hammer throw. With a length and breadth of 20 x 15 meters, and a maximum height of 7 meters, the hall features an entirely indoor throwing cage and opens to the outside via two garage doors, giving athletes the possibility to train over distances of up to 100 meters. Protecting athletes from the elements, the hall also keeps them warm during the warm-up and waiting phases, thanks to an infrared radiant heating system installed in the rear of the building.
Comprising a steel structure with wood cladding, the new throwing hall blends harmoniously into the surrounding area, providing a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
