Second Hand Book Sale at Schluechthaus
On Wednesday, 10 December 2025, the organisers of the Second Hand Book Sale at Schluechthaus presented a cheque for €4,084.67 to representatives of the Union Luxembourgeoise des Bibliothèques Publiques, with members of the Municipal Council in attendance.
This amount was raised through the book fair held on Sunday, 26 October 2025 at the Old Slaughterhouse in Hollerich, and was donated in full to ULBP to support the country's public libraries.
This pop-up bookshop was organised by the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque together with bookstagrammers @Betweenthelines.lu and @Idealistatheart. Since its launch, it has grown steadily in popularity: the inaugural 2023 Second Hand Book Sale raised €1,925 for the charity "Stëmm vun der Strooss", while the 2024 edition generated €3,942.40 in support of the "Île aux Clowns" association.
The City and the Second Hand Book Sale volunteers would like to thank everyone who helped make the event a success, whether by donating or buying a second-hand book, and thereby supporting an organisation that celebrates the joy of reading and promotes it across all audiences, while embracing an environmentally responsible approach.
