On Saturday, 7 June 2025, the City of Luxembourg hosts the Kannerparad – a grand parade of children and young people though the streets of the capital from 15:00 until 16:30. The event is organised by CAPEL, a branch of the City's Service Foyers scolaires (Childcare Department), and held every two years. The 10th edition promises to be a captivating, multicultural display of imagination and creativity around the theme "PLIC!” in a fun-filled atmosphere. After the parade, at around 17:00, participants and spectators alike are invited to attend the closing performance put on by "La Boîte à Clous" at the municipal park near the Villa Louvigny.
250 children from all corners of Luxembourg
In all, 250 children, young people and adult chaperones from all corners of Luxembourg will parade through the city's streets in a lively, colourful procession. The children have been working with boundless enthusiasm for several months to bring their ideas and interpretations of the theme to life. For the event, the streets in the city centre will take on all the trappings of a giant outdoor stage, showcasing the joy and creativity of seven groups of children and young people. The participants have designed their costumes and choreographed their performances drawing on their own inspiration, with occasional help from professionals during technical and creative workshops.
