In light of the success of the "third place" in Bonnevoie, the City of Luxembourg officially opened a new community space in Eich, on Tuesday, 30 June 2026. The purpose of the new space is to provide residents of Beggen, Dommeldange, Eich, Mühlenbach and Weimerkirch with a place where they can meet, socialise and forge closer ties, through a range of social, cultural and participative activities.

The space will be managed by the non-profit ASTI (Association de soutien aux travailleurs immigrés). ASTI is heavily involved in community projects in the north of the city, and will run the centre in keeping with the goal of promoting a sense of intercultural community and a local community dynamic. Designed to be open to everyone, the third place will be a venue where residents can meet, socialise, stay informed, take part in activities, get help with certain administrative or social procedures, and even form social bonds and friendships. Much like the Bonnevoie facility, the programme in Eich will include both regular and one-off activities and events that are tailored to local residents' specific needs and expectations. The activities and events will be chosen by the ASTI facilitators, in consultation with residents and in collaboration with partner associations and external providers. Citizens will also be encouraged to take an active role, by proposing and undertaking their own initiatives to promote community life.

The Eich "third place" is designed as a multi-purpose space, capable of accommodating a broad range of uses and activities. Owing to its extended opening hours, it will be able to cater to the needs of a wide range of users, and will serve as an ideal spot for residents to meet in the heart of their district.

In a context marked by significant socio-demographic diversity, developing facilities like this is particularly appropriate and meaningful. This new third space is a further sign of the City's commitment to promoting integration, strengthening social connections at the local level, and placing social connection at the heart of urban life.

The new centre, which is located at no. 145, rue de Mühlenbach, will be open to the public from 10:00 to 18:00 Tuesday to Friday, and from 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays.
