Blooming Windows: four award-winning shop windows in the heart of the capital
On Tuesday, 2 June 2026, the City and the Luxembourg City Business Association (UCVL) announced the winners of the "Blooming Windows" shop window competition, held from 1 to 31 May. The competition was organised to encourage storeowners to create green, flowery shop-window decors to add a touch of brightness and poetry to the heart of the city.
In all, 23 businesses took part in the competition, of which 8.70% were located in the Gare district, 82.60% in Ville Haute, and 8.70% in one of the capital's other districts.
The judges marked each shop window against their criteria – overall attractiveness, technical execution, originality and creativity, incorporation of the store's products into the design, bonus for favourite window – and selected the following joint winners:
- Chocolaterie Genaveh (1, rue Philippe II, Ville Haute)
- Friendship Colours of the Chars (10, rue Beaumont, Ville Haute)
- Librairie Promoculture (14, rue André Duchscher, Gare)
The public were also invited to vote for the window they liked best, with the Public's Favourite award going to Romantico Romantico (86, Grand-Rue, Ville Haute).
The judges were impressed by the creativity and dedication that went into decorating the shop windows, especially since the shop window is the first thing customers see, making it an important tool for attracting and communicating with customers that accounts for a significant share of sales.
The winners each received €2,000, donated by the City of Luxembourg as part of this initiative designed to support businesses and make the local districts more lively and appealing. The UCVL and the City of Luxembourg would like to thank all participants for their involvement and creativity.
