For the 17th Robert Schuman Art Prize, which is awarded every other year by the cities of Luxembourg, Metz, Saarbrücken and Trier – the cities in the QuattroPole network – four artists were chosen by the curators Liliana Francisco and Steven Cruz (La Concierge ASBL) to represent Luxembourg City at the Greater Region's foremost art award:

  • Bruno Oliveira (born in Portugal in 1993; lives and works in Luxembourg)
    • Project: Sanfins
  • Jil Lahr (born in Luxembourg in 1991; lives and works in Hamburg)
    • Project: Das Haus ist mir ein Traum
  • Maïté Seimetz (born in Luxembourg in 1995; divides her time between Paris and Luxembourg)
    • Project: Decepticles
  • Zoriana Tymtsiv (born in Ukraine in 2006; divides her time between Antwerp and Luxembourg)
    • Project: Beneath the Surface: The Skin We Wear, the Skin We Share

In selecting the artists, the two Luxembourg curators assessed candidates' works by considering how they addressed the following question: How can art today reaffirm the importance of emotions, personal experiences and human connection in a world that is increasingly becoming dominated by individualism and social disconnection? The selected artists' works, which all display highly contemporary aesthetics, engage in dialogue with the tensions of our time, namely social alienation, the search for identity, latent dystopia and the illusion of a reality shaped by our perceptions.

The selected artists also embody Luxembourg's "multiplicity", i.e. its considerable cultural diversity, and its cosmopolitan and multilingual character.
