Walking Bus (Pedibus)

Chaperones are assigned to the various districts and routes. They collect the children and escort them to their destination, the school.

To ensure that chaperones are visible at all times, they are required to wear the safety vests provided to them by the City.

Duration

One hour in the morning to take the children to school, and another in the afternoon to take them home.

Civil liability is covered by the City of Luxembourg's insurance.

Service agreement

Service provision contract for one year, renewable after each school year.

Compensation

  • €20/hr (excluding VAT)
 

Bus chaperone

The role of chaperones is to supervise the children on their bus journeys to and from school.

To ensure that chaperones are visible at all times, they are required to wear the safety vests provided to them by the City.

Duration

  • Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 7:00–8:00, 11:30–14:00, and 15:30–16:30.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 7:00–8:00 and 11:45–12:45

Chaperones will supervise school bus journeys in the following districts:

  • Belair
  • Bonnevoie
  • Clausen
  • Hamm
  • Kirchberg
  • Mühlenbach (Bëschspillschoul)

Interviews and information sessions

To become a school bus or walking bus chaperone, you must take part in a personal interview. Candidates selected after the interview must then attend an information session held by the Police, in order to obtain a certificate of participation.
