Participants are invited to engage with locally collected clay while listening to stories about the forests and landscapes from which the material originates. This experience, informed by personal narratives, forms the basis for creating three-dimensional objects inspired by memory and imagination. Together, these works form a map through clay – a materialisation of shared experience and a symbolic space for connection.
Biography.
Dijana Engelmann is a visual artist who graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Split. Often involving clay and participatory formats, her practice explores the relationship between material, memory and narrative. Rooted in sculpture and expanded through installations and collective processes, her work engages with embodied experience, the poetics of place and issues of identity and displacement.
Using local materials such as clay from southern Luxembourg, she creates connections between environment, memory and transformation. Her projects include site-specific installations, material research and community workshops that activate shared spaces through artistic exchange. Drawing on personal experiences of migration and living in multicultural environments, she investigates the fragile relationships between real and imagined spaces. Engelmann has exhibited in Croatia, Luxembourg, and Germany, and regularly leads educational and collaborative workshops in partnership with institutions such as Konschthal Esch and local schools. She will participate in the Bridderhaus residency in Esch-sur-Alzette in autumn 2025.
She lives and works between Luxembourg and Croatia.
