Framework: Mudam’s Summer Project – The 80s as a Stage

Access: No experience or material required

Booking: Free admission and open to all

A participatory event that brings together the elements developed throughout Mudam’s Summer Project. Conceived as an active stage, it brings sound, movement, image and discourse into play all at once. Rather than a fixed performance, it operates as an open environment in which visitors can move between roles: observer, participant, performer. The night unfolds through a series of ‘stages’: an 80s-focused clothes swap, three DJ sets, a live hair and styling stand, a cassette recording station and an accessories drop-in. Dance activations may extend the movement-based work, while the collective graffiti (created during the workshop) functions as a visual backdrop. Together, these elements form a space where style, gesture, and atmosphere are continuously produced and reworked.

Biographies

The Académie Beauté is a student-run business at the Lycée Ermesinde in Mersch. In a fully operational beauty and hair salon, students practise their skills in hairdressing, skincare, makeup, nail care, and perfumery by serving real clients: fellow students, staff members, and members of the public. This professional setting allows them to gain hands-on experience, build their independence, and explore careers in the beauty industry. Throughout the year, the Académie Beauté also runs workshops – such as “Relaxation Week” and manicure and makeup sessions for the holidays—and creates the hairstyles and makeup looks for the school’s annual fashion show.

Lët'z Refashion is a Luxembourg-based awareness-raising project dedicated to reducing the textile industry's carbon footprint. Its mission is to help people understand the issues at stake and make ethical, sustainable alternatives easy to find and adopt.

Jo Malano was born on June 29, 1995, in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. Before turning to art, he spent many years focused on sports, playing handball. His creative career began around 2013, when he transferred from the Institut national des sports (INS) to the Lycée des Arts et Métiers, where he graduated in 2014 from the “division artistique, section audiovisuel.” It was there that he met many friends who shared his creative interests, an encounter that ignited his passion. From then on, he participated in numerous exhibitions as well as large-scale outdoor graffiti projects. His style defies easy categorization, which is why his biography includes both gallery exhibitions and outdoor work. For example, the group show “Locals” at the Centre d’Art Dominique Lang and Nei Liicht, Dudelange in 2016, the “Exposition de printemps du CAL” at theTramsschapp, Luxembourg in 2023, or “Fioritura” at the Galerie Schlassgoart, Esch-sur-Alzette in 2024, as well as live painting at the “Nuit de la Culture”, Esch-sur-Alzette in 2019 and “Graffiti am Park”, Hesperange in 2019, and the group exhibition “Metzeschmelz” by CUEVA, Esch-sur-Alzette/Schifflange in 2022. His art blends abstraction and figuration, always seeking a balance—whether between emotions or between forms and colours.

A Franco-Ivorian DJ based in Luxembourg, Oriane Bruyat got her start by opening for concerts at Gudde Wëllen. As one experience led to another, she developed a practice centred on music curation. With a lifelong passion for creating playlists and driven by a decidedly eclectic taste, she crafts custom selections, primarily for cultural institutions, exhibitions, and opening receptions. Each of her sets is conceived as a unique soundtrack, in dialogue with the venue, the moment, and her audience.

Yoni is a musicologist, event manager and radio journalist in classical music. Her academic research into the essence of music, combined with her work at Radio 100,7 and her African-Indianroots, have deeply influenced her artistic identity. The result is a distinctive sound design she describes as “éclectique électronique”. Her DJ sets are shaped by Black music, bass-driven, sometimes polyrhythmic House whileremaining open to exploration across Afrobeats, Disco and Downtempo. She began DJing during the pandemic, a risk that proved worthwhile. She quickly establishedherself within North Germany’s underground scene before expanding to clubs and festivals in Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium. She has performed at Kolla, Pangea and Opdakopp Festival, Luxexpo, Rotondes, Rocas, Melusina and Mirador (LU); Stellwerk, Gängeviertel and Asphaltsprenger in Hamburg, Mauerpfeiffer in Saarbrücken and Funkloch Festival (DE); as well as La Nature Festival (BE). Yoni is a member of the Luxembourgish artist collective Gebees Houeren, where she primarilycurates immersive sonic journeys for slower sets and chill-out spaces.
