In its impressive archives, the Cinémathèque preserves and promotes international film heritage. In its screening room at Place du Théâtre, it organises retrospectives, as well as a wide range of special events devoted to the seventh art: film conferences, round tables, public youth projects, senior activities, film concerts, and festivals. The Cinémathèque organises the City Open Air Cinema and is an important partner of the Luxembourg City Film Festival.
The Luxembourg City Cinémathèque has been a member of the International Federation of Film Archives since 1983.
