Following the "Quartierspläng" project, which was run in 2024 to gather locals' opinions about future developments in their area, aiming to improve social cohesion and quality of life in the various districts, the City is now entering a new phase, with the initiative "Mäi Quartier – Meng Plaz" (My Neighbourhood – My Place)".

This new phase aims to implement temporary public space changes to test, in real-life conditions, proposals and ideas that emerged during the earlier stages of public consultation, the Apéri'tours and the Ideation Lab. The initiative is also in keeping with the City's project to regreen the environment, which identifies priority sectors in which to plant more vegetation, improve comfort in terms of temperature levels, and develop public spaces that are more resilient against climate change.

From 16 July to 13 September 2026, four sites will host temporary installations, combining street furniture, greenery, shade, drinking fountains, gathering places and local events. The programme of events has been developed by associations, institutions and local partners who will be staging activities throughout the summer reflecting the unique features and dynamic of each district. These temporary improvements provide an initial opportunity to turn residents' suggestions into reality, while assessing how they are received and gathering valuable feedback to inform future development projects and the permanent redesign of the spaces.

With "Mäi Quartier – Meng Plaz", the City is reaffirming its commitment to shaping neighbourhoods progressively, drawing on everyday use, dialogue with residents and lessons learned to create public spaces that are increasingly welcoming, resilient, sustainable and well suited to daily life.

In each of the target squares, a sign will provide information about the local history, the objectives of the project and the schedule of upcoming activities over the next few months.
