On Tuesday, 13 January 2026, the College of the Mayor and Aldermen awarded the 2025 Anne Beffort Prize to Alice Welter, content creator and founder of the Instagram account "L'effrontée". The ceremony was held at City Hall with the members of the Advisory Committee on Gender Equality in attendance.

Raising awareness about gender equality through social media

By awarding the 2025 Anne Beffort Prize, dedicated to "raising awareness of gender equality through social media, particularly among young people", the College of Aldermen seeks to recognize the commitment of Alice Welter, a freelance journalist and creator of the Instagram account "L'effrontée". Through this platform, she offers a feminist perspective on current affairs, sheds light on the inequalities faced by women in Luxembourg, and works to break the silence surrounding these issues.

Having faced sexism in the workplace firsthand and observed biased media coverage, Alice Welter founded Luxembourg’s First Feminist Media on Instagram in November 2023. Today, "L'effrontée" has over 30,000 followers and shares between one and three posts a day, addressing topics such as national and international news, the role of women in society, and the lived experiences of women in Luxembourg. The account quickly grew into a platform where women can voice their experiences, share their stories, and break the silence that remains all too common
