On Friday, 16 May 2025 a groundbreaking ceremony was held on Boulevard Konrad Adenauer to mark the first day of construction work on the K2A (Extension Kirchberg 2A) section of the city's tram network.
The initial expansion of the tram network will entail building the new K2A section on Plateau de Kirchberg, along Boulevard Konrad Adenauer up to the European School.
The new section is scheduled to open in time for the start of the 2027 school year.
