Nature Rallye Kockelscheuer

On Friday, 23 May 2025, the nature activities unit of the City's Service Enseignement (Education Department) successfully concluded the first edition of its educational tour at the Haus vun der Natur in Kockelscheuer. Members of the City of Luxembourg's College of Aldermen and representatives of the Centre Verdi were in attendance. This event took place from 12 to 23 May and gave 428 students from 29 Cycle 4.2 classes in the City's elementary schools the opportunity to take part in an enlightening outdoor experience focused on the theme of the forest.

To mark the occasion, Mayor Lydie Polfer and Paul Galles, Alderman for Education, expressed their thanks on behalf of the City of Luxembourg to all the children who participated in the various initiatives organised by the City's Service Enseignement. They also wished the young people success as they prepare to enter secondary school and embark on a new chapter in their lives.

The last day of the event featured a musical performance organised by the Centre Verdi in collaboration with the students, giving the day a celebratory and festive air. The nature activities unit took care of transport and lunch, thus ensuring the event was stress-free and enjoyable for all participants.

Tour programme

The tour featured 10 activity points: The five main activity points focused on teamwork and the five intermediate activity points focused on knowledge. Students used GPS and walkie-talkies to communicate and navigate their way around the trail. The main activity points featured collaborative challenges, such as making a figure with a rope while blindfolded and crossing a rope net. The intermediate activity points tested the students' knowledge, such as tree identification and animal sound association. The 3.5 km trail took approximately 3.5 hours to complete.
