MEGAREfest returns for a successful second edition in Luxembourg's Gare district
On Friday, 5 June 2026, the City and UP_FOUNDATION invited children, their families, and residents of the Gare district to the second edition of MEGAREfest, which was met with great enthusiasm and enjoyed remarkable success. This friendly neighborhood celebration took place from 16:00 to 20:00 on Place de Strasbourg, which was transformed for the occasion into a lively hub of connection, exchange, and entertainment for children and adults alike.
Just like at the first event, many community leaders turned out to offer the children and residents of the Gare neighborhood an afternoon full of new experiences and excitement. Creative and sports workshops, a capoeira demonstration, musical performances, and informational booths offered a diverse programme designed to amuse, entertain, and inform visitors of all ages. Highlights of the afternoon included a dance performance by children from the Fischer foyer scolaire, musical and dance presentations by students of the Lycée privé Fieldgen, and an energetic, crowd-pleasing performance by the artist duo Circo a la Maleta.
The MEGAREfest festival is part of the MEGARE project, which is an initiative launched in 2024 by the City of Luxembourg and UP_FOUNDATION. It is an ambitious project that seeks to promote the positive development of children in the local community, and strengthen social cohesion by creating closer ties between families and educational and local stakeholders, in a spirit of goodwill, for the sake of children's development and well-being.
