As part of the group exhibition Screentime/s., which explores contemporary regimes of the moving image and the role of the screen as an interface for perceptions, projections, and relationships, Offscreen introduces a sensory and experiential shift in perspective. It marks a turning point in Screentime/s: a transition from (the screen’s) digital and virtual worlds back to lived, bodily, and shared reality. This is not about simply getting back to reality, however; rather, it comes with an exploration of altered states of consciousness, where inner experience nuances and enriches the perception of the world.

While the screen today structures our modes of attention, communication, and imagination, the proposals contained in the OffscreenFrom ECHO.lu programme question the boundaries of these modes: from a mere display surface, the screen becomes an inner, mental space.

Offscreen invites us to rethink our relationship with images in a time defined by their omnipres-ence, by reintroducing forms of slowness, attention, and subjectivity
