On Friday, 6 June 2025, the City of Luxembourg's College of the Mayor and Aldermen officially opened the exhibition "Les Vrais Hommes" (Real Men) at the Bierger-Center. Designed by infoMann, this thought-provoking exhibition explores the many stereotypes surrounding masculinity which, even today, are still deep-rooted in our society.
Through assertions such as "A real man never shows weakness", or "A real man cannot be a victim of domestic abuse", the exhibition highlights the often unrealistic and oppressive expectations that men face, leading them to believe that they must live up to a certain set image. Yet, the experience of maleness cannot be reduced to a single template. Men too can express their emotions, ask for help, or show themselves to be vulnerable.
In that sense, "Les Vrais Hommes" encourages men to break free from the shackles of social pressure, and seeks to help the general public to better understand and support the many ways in which manhood can be expressed, with the aim of building a more inclusive, more accepting society.
