Extension of CCTV coverage in the Gare district
On 15 January 2026, the City of Luxembourg Municipal Council received a request from the Ministry of Home Affairs for an opinion on the introduction of a new CCTV coverage area, referred to as “Luxembourg-Gare bis”. The Ministry's request was made in response to the Mayor's statement, in January 2025, that she wished to see CCTV coverage in the Gare district extended.
At its session on 2 March 2026, the Municipal Council ruled in favour of introducing the “Luxembourg-Gare bis” CCTV coverage area to improve security in the Gare district. The extension provides for a further 110 cameras, covering some thirty streets, in addition to those already installed in the “Luxembourg-Gare” CCTV coverage area.
However, for it to be put into practice, the extension still requires approval from the Minister for Home Affairs.
