Join us for a two-part afterWORKshop exploring the poetic process of cyanotype, an early photographic printing technique that uses sunlight to create striking Prussian blue photograms. Over the course of two evening sessions, participants will transform everyday items, ranging from clothing to three-dimensional personal objects, into light-sensitive artworks. During the first session we’ll dive into the process of chemistry, mixing our own cyanotype solution and applying it to your chosen piece: an old T-shirt, a cotton tote, or any object made of natural fibers. Think of it as prepping your personal canvas. Once your item is dry, in the second session, we’ll expose your prepped object to UV light using found objects, transparencies, or even plants to create your sun-developed image. You’ll then rinse and reveal your final print, a wearable or functional piece of art.
